When monitoring a TCP/IP server, the ip monitor tries to connect to the specified TCP/IP address and port time after time on the regular basis. The program thinks that the server is available if connect succeeds and that the server is down if connect fails.

This monitoring type can be useful when monitoring a device in the TCP/IP network that accepts incoming connections on a certain TCP port. The program will try to connect to the specified port and state that the server is up and running if the connection was successfull.
