When monitoring file existence/contents, the file monitor component periodically checks whether the specified file exists and optionaly checks whether the file contains certain strings specified by the Network Administrator. This can be useful for flag file or text log files monitoring:

To set up this file monitor to do its job, please specify whether the server is "up" or "down" if the file conditions specified in the dialog above are met, and the full path to the file it should monitor (in the UNC or standard "C:\" notation).
You can also use the program's ability to monitor the file contents, this can be useful if you need to monitor, say, a text log file for certain errors occured in a thirdparty application. With this file monitor you can set one or more context strings the program will search the target file for, and specify whether the files should contain any of the strings listed or only one of them to meet the filter condition.
