February, 2006 For Immediate Release Alchemy Lab announces the release of Asset Tracker for Networks ver.5.6. for Windows 9x/ME/NT/2000/XP/2003, a complete inventory solution for corporate networks. The software collects available information and specification data for hardware and software installed on each PC connected to LAN and provides the Network Administrator with very detailed inventory reports. Asset Tracker for Networks 5.6 features an option called "Clientless PC Inventory". With this option, the Network Administrator can start inventory process and get inventory information for the entire network in a few minutes after the program was installed on the administrator's PC. In other words, Asset Tracker does not require any client software installed on each workstation in order to gather data from the workstation. The key advantage of this software is the wealth of data being collected. Most competing products simply collect inventory data by connecting to the target PC's Windows Registry. Unfortunately, this method does not always allow the administrator to get reliable information about each PC being inspected, since Windows does not always handle Registry information accurately and may contain outdated data. Moreover, the Registry method does not provide information such as serial numbers, HDD S.M.A.R.T information, motherboard model, memory modules, etc. Thanks to the new technology used in Asset Tracker for Networks, this tool can remotely retrieve every conceivable specification detail for workstations being inventoried without the administrator having to install client-side software on each and every PC. After collecting inventory information, Asset Tracker provides the Network Administrator with multiple statistical reports showing various aspects of their network makeup. 19 default reports are included with the program; one can also build their own customized reports by using the Report Builder application shipped with Asset Tracker. Users can also export collected inventory data to an ODBC-compatible database, CSV files, text files, web pages or to Excel.
