Network Map
Network Map
Network Map window allows you to create the logical map of your network and view your network availability and performance in the nice graphical interface:
The program's Network Map can contain objects of the three types:
* Network Elements. Network Element is a network computer, server or network device you need to monitor or just have on your map. The type of the real device represented by a Network Element does not play a big role: you can use computers, network equipment, modems, printers, faxes, etc, etc, etc as Network Elements in the Network Map window of the program. A Network Element can contain zero or more server records attached to it; if it contains server records the program monitors on the regular basis, the status of the Network Element changes according to the status change of each individual server record attached to the Network Element and ourputs on the screen as a little green or red icon in the bottom-left part of the network element icon in the Network Map window as it is shown on the picture above
* Network Connections. Network Connection represents a link between two network Elements on the program's Network Map. This link can be of any physical nature: it can be a physical link (cable), a temporary connection (e.g. between two modems), a logical relationship and so on. A Network Connection object is represented by a line on the Network Map window (see the picture above) and can contain zero or more server records attached to the Network Connection object. If the Network Connection contains one or more server records the program monitors on the regular basis, the status of the network connection changes according to the attached server statuses change and this results in the Network Connection line color change in the Network Map window.
Network Groups. Network Group represents a network sub-map nested in the parent network map of your organization. This can be useful, for example, in the case that your company has more than one office and you need to have all offices networks on your map separately. Please doubleclick the Network Group icon on your network map to enter the submap and place network objects (connections, elements, other groups) in the Network Group window.
